Our Mission
To create a scenic and safe walking and biking route from the Rivanna River near Monticello to the Blue Ridge Mountains along the historic Three-Notched Road.
To create this pathway, the Three Notch Trail Foundation will:
- Work with property owners and local partners to determine route options and right-of-way
- Acquire and hold easements for trail right of way
- Assist in development of planned greenway sections
- Organize a volunteer trail maintenance group
- Work with state and local agencies
- Raise funds for trail design and construction
The Goal
To provide a pathway to experience the natural, historic, and scenic piedmont between Charlottesville and the Rockfish Gap to the Shenandoah Valley.
The Three Notched Trail may also extend east to Richmond along the historic corridor, and connect to the Capital Trail to Jamestown.
