Recent Updates
2021 Fundraising!
- $3000 has been secured for a TNT Awareness and Fundraising event from the Eco-Living Fund. Contact us to assist with event planning!
- $820 was raised in 2021 by volunteering at the Fridays After Five concerts. Contact us to volunteer in 2022!
- $2,509 was raised by local breweries (Selvedge, Beer Run, Random Row, and Kardinal Hall) as part of Happy Trails, Happy Pint Round-up campaign.
- TNT volunteers attended seminars on planning and designing Rail-with-Trails (RWT).
- TNT volunteers met with the newly created Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) to discuss the upcoming Virginia Passenger Rail Plan.
- TNT volunteers worked with UVA Law students to summarize legal implications of allowing RWT in Virginia as it’s not currently defined within the VA legal code.
- TNT volunteers are currently working with the a UVA Law student to map Virginia-owned land of the recently acquired Buckingham Branch Railroad. Additionally, the student will research RWT agreements form other states
2021 Petition Results
The Three Notched Trail Planning Group sincerely thanks you for your interest in the trail! We were blown away by our 2021 petition responses, requesting that Albemarle County administrators support the trail. There were are over 4,400 signatures!
It’s been incredibly motivating to hear the excitement incited by this proposed trail. One petition signer’s comment stated, “This is literally the best idea anyone has ever had except for when I had the idea to marry my wife”. More public comments can be read here.
We hope the petition highlighted the need to fill Albemarle County's Trails Planner position. Dan Butch stepped into that role at the beginning of 2022 and we look forward to working with him. Welcome, Dan!
How You Can Help!
- Volunteer at the April 21st Fridays After Five! The String Cheese Incident will be playing at the Ting Pavilion. We need 8-12 volunteers to help serve drinks and smiles.
- Join the TNT Event Planning Team and work on the TNT Awareness and Fundraising event. Volunteers will brainstorm ideas for a fall 2022 event to raise funds, awareness, and engagement with the TNT project. Aspects of organizing this event include logistics, route planning, registrations, fundraising, swag, events advertising, graphic design and more - you can see there is something for everyone!
- Donate to the TNT effort!
- Design TNT swag (hats, tee shirts, etc.)!
